Luxembourg is a charming little city, but quite an odd place to visit. I feel like I’m still trying to come to a conclusion about itΒ after our brief – and very wet – day trip at the weekend.
Even so, I wanted to share a few of my photos of the undeniably picturesque UNESCO-listed city. It was a grey, grey day, which I normally find disappointing, but I quite like the juxtaposition of the dismal weather and the bright buildings – what do you think?
Overcast days often make for the best architectural photos because of the lack of strong shadows (though you sometimes need a tripod if it’s really dark).
Thanks for the tip James!
Even with the bad weather I find it a very cute and charming city! It reminds me a little of San Marino and of course the German architecture π
I’ve never been to San Marino, but I know what you mean about the Germanic architecture – I love a nice timbered building.
Yes me too π it looks really nice, I would love to go there sometime, its not even that far from Munich π
Luxembourg has never been on my radar to be honest, but when I’ll visit Belgium, I’ll make sure to include a day trip to this tiny country as well. π
It’s a nice little town. When will you be in Belgium?
I have no idea, right now it’s just a possible trip in the future. I’d love to visit Brussels, Bruges Antwerp and maybe Ghent too.
As if you can just go on a day trip, fantastic! π
It took a fair few hours to get there, but it was worth it! 6am start on a Saturday morning though…
Very pretty. My whole last week’s trip to Belgium was rain, rain, rain, and with appropriate clothing is doesnt really put a damper on things for me as long as I am city-bound.
I’m off to Belgium very soon – I hope the weather has improved just a bit by then…
Yeah, you keep hoping π
