After several years of waiting and two failed attempts, I finally managed it: I reached the Balkans. Over the course of two weeks, I backpacked across Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Croatia with two friends.
I have a lot to write about after the trip, but while I put metaphorical pen to paper, here are a couple of my favourite shots which show the highlights of the fortnight.

Remains of the fortress at Počitelj

Beautiful shots John, can’t wait to read all about your adventures. I can say I’m quite jealous 😉
Thanks Vlad. I am just reading up on your travels in Portugal thinking the same – maybe next year we should just swap holidays?
Being an old fuddy duddy, I don’t do Instagram so I hope you’ll be posting a few articles here as well.
Don’t worry, I will be writing plenty on the trip in the next few weeks/months. You will be sick to death of Bosnia by Christmas, you’ll see…
Awesome you did the Balkans in so short a time..I was ambitious to cover 4 countries but ended up with 2 ( Croatia and Bosnia) then a little bit of Belgium as I had to take the flight from there..cool pictures!
We were a bit stretched for time, really. We only had about a day in Serbia, which was a shame – still it’s definitely a region worth seeing. Which places did you visit?
Spent a couple of days each in: Pula, Dubrovnik, Mostar, Sarajevo..a drive through Zaghreb, and an afternoon on a beach in Rijeka before flying out to Brussels the next day..we spent about 15 days in total which was cool..( only two countries Croatia and Bosnia)…was fun!
Gorgeous. I am very excited to be heading to the Balkans myself in under 2 weeks, though not the same areas as yours 🙂
Lucky you. Where abouts are you headed?
Flying into Belgrade, staying in eastern Croatia, will be doing a circle from Vinkovici to Budapest to Zagreb to Vinkovici, and hopefully hitting up some Croatian castles along the way.
Any recommendations for these spots?
