After a wait of almost six years, last week saw me leave the shores of Europe once again.Ā I spent a long weekend soaking up the sights and sounds of Marrakech, as well as taking a day trip to the Atlas Mountain, Ait Ben Haddou and the city of Ourzazate, exploring my first new country of the year and my first new continent since 2009.
Marrakech is an incredible place – the city really did surprise me in a number of ways (not least by how bloody cold it was). We saw some strong French and European influences, mixed with the local Berber and Arabic traditions.
We packed a lot into our four-day trip and I’m looking forward to writing about it over the coming weeks. But for now, you can whet your appetite with some of my best shotsĀ from the trip. Enjoy!
Your photos are so beautiful and they reminded me how much I want to visit Morocco. Can’t wait to hear more about your trip! š
GO, GO, GO! Morocco was incredible and I will definitely be going back – probably the north next time.
Really nice photos! I’m hoping to visit Morocco this summer. š
I’m sure you’ll love it – everyone seems to. I just hope you have some better weather than us!
Spectacular photos! They make me feel as if I’m there…. !
Thanks Lia – you’re always so kind!
We absolutely loved our 4 days in Morocco!! These images are bringing back such lovely memories of our time in marrakech and the atlas mountain region š
Glad to hear it – I absolutely loved our time there. The mountains were incredible.
OH MY GOD. The photos are sick. Especially everything market-related. I feel like all my cash would be gone in a moment. Also the 3rd and 4th photos. And the oranges – YUM. OMG just take me there! I feel like every time I read about someone’s new Moroccan adventure it is even better than what I’m already imagining the place to be.
Thanks so much – glad you liked them! I really do wish I’d bought more at the markets – there was a leather hold-all bag I am kicking myself over.
OMG now you’re just torturing me
How do you think I feel?? EVERYONE on my
flight home had bought it š instant regret.
I’m such a huge fan of old Islamic architecture, I can’t believe I haven’t made it to Morocco yet! And tiles, oh tiles! Can’t wait to read about it!
Your photos are Fabulous !!
